What Was Passed Down

$1,900.00

This piece is part of my Great Lakes Fish Collection and my Bass and Warm Water Fish Collection and it reflects nostalgia.

This painting grew from memories of fishing with my dad and from the stories he used to tell about fishing with his own dad in Misery Bay. He always talked about how they used red and white Daredevil spoons for northern pike and how those lures were the best for getting a strike. I never got to fish with my grandfather, and now that my dad has passed, I miss those stories and the time we had on the water. Painting this northern pike with the baby pike, the perch, and the Daredevil spoon felt like a way to hold onto those moments. I added tiny marks of rust and scraped paint on the spoon and built the background to look like the underwater grass where pike hide. That part was an experiment for me and helped me learn a new way to show movement in the water.

This artwork is for people who want their home or cabin to hold a sense of the memories that shaped them. Painted with the understanding that comes from time outdoors, it brings color, story, and quiet connection into your space. It is a simple reminder of the moments we carry forward and the people who helped us love the water.
