A sense of Great Lakes depth and tradition settles into your space, shaped by water that holds generations of stories.
This piece carries the steady presence of lake water, calm on the surface, but full of life, movement, and memory beneath it. The contrast between the richly textured walleye and the quieter blue water creates a sense of balance, adding both depth and stillness to your space.
If you’ve spent time on the lake or carry memories tied to it, this piece will feel familiar.
This walleye was inspired by growing up on the outskirts of Erie, where the lake is known for its strong walleye fishing and the kind of moments that stay with you. It also brings back the memory of a large walleye my dad caught on the Allegheny River and how proud he was of it. That memory became part of this piece.
The fish itself holds layered texture and detail, while the background remains more open and calm, allowing the subject to stand forward. The raw wood edge frames the scene naturally, grounding it in the environment it came from and adding to that connection back to the water.
It brings a sense of memory and connection into your space, a reminder of the moments that stay with you long after you’ve left the water.
