This piece is part of my Wildlife, Skulls, and Nature Collection and it reflects wonder.
This painting began with my love of using animal outlines in a subtle way and filling them with the things that shape their lives. In the fall I saw so many acorns on the ground and started wondering how many a bear would need to eat to prepare for winter. That thought led me to build the bear shape and fill it with layers of green, stenciled forest textures, and detailed acorns. The warm colors flowing around the bear shape give it a strong autumn feel. Inside the silhouette the greens and patterns show the forest floor and the acorns carry the story of the long sleep ahead. I had never painted acorns before and the textures became one of my favorite parts of the piece.
This artwork is for people who enjoy quiet moments outdoors and want their home or cabin to reflect that feeling. Built from the eye of someone who knows nature by heart, it brings gentle color, layered detail, and a sense of wonder into your space. It offers a simple reminder of the way wildlife prepares for the seasons and how much beauty lives in small things on the forest floor.
