I wanted to paint a salmon in a way that felt new because most artists focus on the stones and current lines outside the fish. I enjoy shifting that view so I placed those elements inside the salmon instead. The stones and the movement of the water run through the body of the fish and that change creates a fresh way of seeing it. The colors move softly across the surface and the textures settle into the form. The painting holds a quiet rhythm and invites you to slow down and notice the life moving within the fish.
