With this piece I wanted to play with some new ideas and bring a little sparkle into the water. I added glitter into the background and the splashes to give that shimmer you see when a bass explodes through the shallows. I kept thinking about those moments on the water when a bass charges after a smaller fish and everything erupts like a tiny volcano. I hoped to capture that sense of movement and urgency. The mixed media layers let me build depth in the water and highlight the action between the bass and the sunfish. You can almost feel the splash as the sunfish tries to escape.
