A young mangrove is planted along a sandy shoreline, with another new tree growing nearby. Putting Down Roots is part of Connected by Water, a collection inspired by the places and wildlife of the Florida Reef Tract.
Mangrove restoration begins long before a young tree reaches the shoreline. MANG Foundation grows mangroves in its Florida nursery until they are ready for restoration projects. Volunteers then plant them along coastlines, where they can take root and grow. Each new mangrove helps rebuild habitat, protect shorelines, improve water quality, and store carbon for the future.
This small original celebrates the care and teamwork behind mangrove restoration.
