Four bottlenose dolphins swim together above a lush seagrass meadow as sunlight streams through the water. Meadow Hunters is part of Connected by Water, a collection inspired by the places and wildlife of the Florida Reef Tract.
Bottlenose dolphins live in the Florida Keys year-round. They often work together to find and catch prey. Beneath them, seagrass meadows support a rich food web by providing feeding and nursery grounds for fish and other marine life. Seagrass also produces oxygen, traps sediment, improves water clarity, and stores carbon in its roots and soils.
This small original celebrates the dolphins and underwater meadow that are part of a connected Florida Keys ecosystem.
